What Is “No Caller ID”?


When you switch on No Caller ID, your number doesn’t appear on the recipient’s phone. Instead, they’ll see “Private Number” or “No Caller ID". It's not Harry Potter's invisible cloak level anonymity, but it’s enough to keep your digits out of sight.

For Individuals: Sometimes, you just want privacy. Celebrities booking a table, someone leaving an anonymous tip or even just a person who doesn’t want callbacks. Hiding your number can make life easier.

It prevents callbacks, which can be practical — but it also means you should always be cautious. If a “No Caller ID” caller is asking for sensitive information, hang up or let it go to voicemail.


How to Turn It On


iPhone: Settings → Phone → Show My Caller ID → Toggle Off

Android (varies by model): Phone App → Settings → Calling Accounts → Additional Settings → Caller ID → Choose Hide Number
